When I tried upgrading my RB450Gx4 router to the latest 7.17rc version, it restarted but remained on 7.16. The first log entry stated: “Upgrade failed, free 9 kB of kernel disk space.” My router has over 400MB of free disk space, and despite searching extensively online, I couldn’t find anyone else encountering this error on RouterOS.
Works fine for me to upgrade from 7.16.2 to 7.17 on RB450GX4.
I did not have new partitions created and did not change anything related to disk (from what came with factory)
The only thing related to disks is : I have a ext4 formatted sd card for storing containers …but that may be irrelevant to the issue
I’ve contacted the support yesterday and here’s their response:
Thank you for contacting MikroTik Support. We appreciate your patience while we were investigating this issue.
We have come up with a potential fix for the issue in RouterOS 7.18beta2.
Please note! Before performing the update, we always recommend creating a backup and an export, that are saved outside of the device.
Please try updating to this version by first changing the release channel and installing the version. After the update, please make sure to update your device's firmware. You can use the following commands to perform the update:
/system package update set channel=testing
/system package update install
To upgrade the firmware, run this command then reboot the device:
/system routerboard upgrade
If the update fails/succeeds please contact us again!
Since I’m trying to update my office router I’ll do it tonight can’t test their potential fix yet.
But decided to let you guys know. Cheers!
I have met the same error today:
CCR2004 with 7.13.5 brand new (just netinstalled).
wont upgrade to 7.16.2
to 7.18 because of the same error.
I will try to netinstall with 7.18
