I found an old RB450G which I had lost for some time!
I fully updated it and I connected it with a simple WAN+1LAN to cable internet provider with a 500Mbit connection (Download).
On speedtests with various test servers I can reach only up to 300Mbit at best.
Is this the correct limit of this hardware or I have done something wrong?
I’m sorry I’m a total newbie. My previous post was my very 1st one! :-/
I don’t know what Fasttracking is.
I simply setup WAN and LAN interfaces with simple NAT masquerading. Nothing else.
From the provider’s cable router directly I can get the full 500Mbit if I simply connect a PC to it (and assign a WAN IP from a subnet I have).
Replacing the PC with the 450G and then putting a PC in the lan of it gives me only 300Mbit (280~305)
Paste those 2 commands to mikrotik terminal and test your speed! This is a router with Gigabit Ethernet port but also is old version and old version pf processor too!
RB450G won’t be able to route much more than 300Mbps … have a look at official test results, my experience is that “Routing, 25 ip filter rules, [packet size] 512 byte” figure pretty much resembles real-life performance peak.
