RB493 AH with IC+IP178D soldered on

Hi to all,

another question, i have one RB493AH, this routerboard have received damage from another device connected to port 8 and the original switch chip “IC+ IP178CLF” has damaged too, continuosly reboot or not boot any time.

I have buyed another new chip from ebay china, but it is “IC+IP178DLF” and i have soldered it in board.

The board is back to work without reboot and from first POE port i have accessing from WINBOX, but in other 8 port i don’t have any possible access from winbox or ssh!

The ethernet link on all 8 port result UP, 100Mbits, full duplex, the leds blink one time when i try to access with winbox but nothing!

The question is, the new chip is incompatible with 493AH board?

The datasheet of both chip confirm a pin to pin compatible, but in a 178D is mensioned L2 capable in ethernet switch ports..

I have upgraded firmware and ROS to last version, but nothing.

In a switch menu winbox i see “switch1 hardware= IC+IP178C” and not “IC+IP178D”

There is probably more damage to the RB493 than just that chip.

I’m not sure, on the board i have changed all port rj45 connector, all port protection diode, IC+ chip .
I’ have tested all component, SMD resistor, capacitor, NAND, RAM, inductor, bootloader eprom, oscillator, all voltage regulator mosfets!
The working voltage for all component on board is ok, no short circuit.

Only the CPU is not deep tested.

I think it is not compatible the IC+IP178D with the RB493AH with original IC+IP178C.

I have created a DHCP server and assigned it to a bridge interface with all 8 port into, when i connect my pc on one of this 8 port, in winbox i see the R simbol in used port, 100 Mbit link up, the windows whait for assigning any ip, but nothing.

Read my post about IC+IP175D. I think same problem with IC+IP178D.

Thanks frankie for your reply, but i have tested with an ip assigned to the switch ports (2-8) but i’ don’t enter with winbox and winbox survey not list any device!!

I have tested with 6.4 5.25 and 4.17 ROS version…

I try to buy 178CLF chip and resolder it…
