I’m looking a trying to monitor devices behind a network router (rb493ah) and installed the dude pkg. for mipsbe. Question is how large will the database grow to. I’m simply trying to monitor 20 devices on the other side (ping) and I don’t want to create a problem I cannot recover from. I allowed it to run for about 6 hours and saw memory creep down quite a bit. Does it stop? What can you do to free up the memory again? Will 493ah ever be released with sd card? Any help is greatly appreciated ![]()
Make sure you place TheDude on a slave drive. The available memory can disappear very quickly if you’re not careful and you cannot see any of the files if it is installed on the primary drive as they are hidden from view by the ROS. However, when it is installed onto the slave drive, you can clearly see the files and if you really have to, you can easily and quickly delete files in an emergency.
Sadly this doesn’t help you, as the 493ah does not have any means of attaching any slave memory. So be very careful to keep a close eye on the memory utilisation. Do not for example use TheDude as a Syslog remote server.
