I have a RB493AH that stops routing and can only be accessed using Winbox via MAC address. We have several ports slaved off one master and the switch function continues to work. If I issue a reboot the system restarts and works fine for a while. Secondarily if the router is working properly and I issue a reboot the system hangs or shuts down and never starts up again. A power cycle is required to get it running again. I have swapped the hardware and the problem continues. I tried to install 5.4 but on reboot the system comes up with 5.0 even though the 5.4 file is sitting there in the file system.

Must show the reason for unsuccessful upgrade. Make sure you are using right architecture v5.4 packages and they are not placed in sub-folder.
Unfortunately logging was set-up to send to syslog so no error messages are in the local log.

I do have a auto support file from when it hung this morning and before I attempted the upgrade.

I swapped the router with one already running 5.4 but have not had a chance to issue a reboot on it.
I tried to upgrade to upgrade 2 more RB493’s from 5.0 to 5.4 and neither came back up after the reboot was issued. Both routers also still had the new os file in the root of the File system. Seems to me that 5.0 is broke with regards to the reboot function.
