RB500 200-300 MB/s throughput !?

Hi!

http://www.routerboard.com/PDF/newproducts.pdf
“200-300MB/s aggregate throughput”

Does anyone get that throughput as its writed there?

I can only get ~30Mbps of simple routing or bridging ethernet interfaces on RB500 at 333MHz. Have in mind that 200MB/s = 1600Mbps

Also I can’t get more throuhput when using standard ATX boards. 1MHz of CPU = ~0.1 Mbps of througput, no metter what PCI card I use, from chipest RT8139 to intel/3com.
I think that Pentium 166MHz + 3com PCI can serve one way around 100Mbps on linux system (altought not tested this with routing/bridging). Is the mikrotik OS the limiting factor?

Best Regards

This figure is only for Ethernet interfaces. This is megabits per second – Mb/s. Thanks for finding the typo.

We can do ~98Mb/s full duplex between two ports (routing 196Mb/s throughput) and about 35Mb/s going in the 3rd port and routed out another subnet on the same port (so about 35Mb/s routed). I can’t remeber the CPU frequency, but 266-333MHz. UDP and 1500 byte packets.

You can use to additional Celeron routers to generate and receive the traffic.
