RB500 Series problem :(

Hello fellow forum users!

My name is Jakub and I am a CCNA student at uni. Recently I got hold of a RB500 and I wanted to connect it so I could play around with it. I spoke to my electronis teacher to help m get a right power source for the thing because I didn’t know which one to use. I got the right one. When I plug it in, the power ligh flashes and then quickly goes away, then the device starts making a beeping noise which appears to be coming from region where the IDT chip is (sorry, im new to this device). I thought it was just a LED malfunction and tried to access it via winbox, it does not show up… I think that beeping noise has to do with something… Any help?

Thanks a bunch!

You can also power the RB532 unit with standard PoE - http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/RB500_Power_options_(Jumpers_settings)

Connect at the RS232 port with at serial cable (look at the wiki.mikrotik.com page for details) and watch the output. This eliminates so many possible things to investigate if your winbox does not want to connect.
