RB500 with UPS reboot issue

Hey guys,

got an RB532 connected to a SMART-UPS 450 with a serial cable. Everything works fine, router communicates with UPS and reads values, etc… the problem occurs when i reboot the router, it will simply not boot with the serial cable plugged in. I have to physically remove the cable from the router serial port, powercycle and after it has booted, plug it back in.

Has anyone encountered such a problem? Any suggestions welcome.

Have deselected the serial port as a console port before using it for a UPS?

It’s also possible the UPS is sending data while the rb is rebooting causing it to go into setup mode. The UPS sends data at 2400bps I think though.
