Just want to ask if somebody encounter this issue, where most of the time i reboot the router it doesn’t boot properly you have to properly power cycle the router at least 3 times to work, the 2nd port always lit but dim and it’s doing nothing, i already netinstall the device still the problem persist, I don’t file a bug report because this might be a hardware related I just want to know if i’m not alone. this rb5009 is almost new but first batch it’s default software is 7.1.3 vs 7.6 with newer similar models.
I don’t think this is a flash issue because this is my test bed router which always turned off I just use this for lab purposes, when the device is working properly it’s is working as it should i don’t see any performance degradation it’s just annoys me it don’t boot up straight first time, you have to power cycle the device more than once, sometimes 2 or 3 sometimes it boot straight properly
Thanks i hope i’m not alone can someone point in a right direction to fix this boot issue please, netinstall won’t fixed this issue for me, the device in quesetion is on v7.13 now but i try numerous build from 7.9 down to 7.13 the issue is always the same
Hi. i just came across your post. This happened to me. when you first boot up the device Port 1 LED is emitting but looks like it is not that bright. The unit is not booting. The only thing is return it to the supplier for an exchange. the unit you have is a hard ware related. it is one of the very first units made.
Hi I have the exact same problem and it’s very annoying. Do you know if there is a known RMA procedure for this specific error. Bought mine when they where released so probably first batch.
I purchased my RB5009UG+S+ as soon as it became available in November 2021 and I’ve experience the aforementioned problem almost consistently where the device powers off when trying to reboot it. The only way to power it back on is to unplug the power cord, wait several seconds, then plug it back in. Obviously, I dare not reboot the device remotely. I’m just now discovering this was a widespread problem with the first-produced devices. I’ve updated the firmware many many times between the earliest firmware and the current and the problem never corrected:
I am not sure if this is any help at all, at least my story is circumstantial, but I had a similar issue on a RB5009UPr+S+IN.
The device would not reboot, but would instead end up being powered off. This was consistent on CLI, and WebFig, and also when rebooting through firmware update.
I ended up discovering that for me the issue was tied to an invalid iscsi configuration in the rose-storage package. The configuration caused
/disk/print
to not work at all, and eventually time out. The only way to truly remove it was through uninstalling the rose-storage package and reinstalling it, after which the config was gone, and the device could reboot.
I have since been able to reproduce the behavior on a CHR, but I have not yet raised a support ticket with Mikrotik, as I have not had the time.
I have the same issue as everyone here. I have been running this since 2021 as well. I just did an upgrade and the first reboot went fine and then the 2nd reboot (firmware) the system didn’t come back. I manually went and pulled power for a few seconds and then it comes back up. Nothing in the logs indicates an error. How did you find this error? I do not have this package installed from what I can tell. The only packages shown for me are routeros and wireless.
This may not be too helpful, but when I had similar issues, it was the power supply gradually failing. If you have one handy, try testing it with a known good one. At least in my experience these power bricks fail way more often than the routers themselves.
