RB5009 Intervlan 110mo/s max

HI everybody,

my apologize for my Approximative English, i am a french guys who beginning on router os.

I have un little bad behaviour on my rb5009 7.14.3.

I have a vlan management where i have installed my nas synology, my pc are in vlan 1 and the nas in vlan2, my pc as a nic 2.5gbps, my nas 2 nic 1gbp/s.

Before i used a edgerouter 4 with the same configuration and i reached 114mo/s, with the rb5009 i am limited to 110mo/s

thanks for your help

That’s only a difference of 3% (between 111MB/s from your screenshot and 114MB/s). It’s probably due to the RB5009’s CPU fluctuating between 350MHz and higher values. You can try to go to System → RouterBOARD → Settings and set the CPU Frequency to 1400MHz. I suspect that with GbE (limited by the port to your NAS), you can even set it to 700MHz, and that frequency should be enough.

But why bother, it’s only 3%. Leave the frequency at “Auto” and have a cooler router.

As said, you are pretty much hitting the 1gbps limit. You only have 1gbps connectivity as any active LACP will put the one copy over only 1x1gbps link to your NAS.

You can try see different results by doing multiple transfers from different PCs or protocols

You are also running 1500MTU, which could restrict some of the overhead of the ~3mb/s difference you are seeing. On LAN it might be worth trying to up the MTU.

Thanks for yours tips, i will try soon at possible :astonished:
