Hi all,
I updated my rb5009 to v7.13 (not sure this is the source of my issue) and while trying to log in a few days later I can login with my credentials, neither winbox, webfig nor ssh work, is there a way to restore connectivity without losing all router config ?

Was there a specific error message or simply wrong credentials ?
If error message:
Try winbox via any of the etherports using mac access.
If you have a second mikrotik AND you did enable romon on rb5009, try to connect second device to any ether port except 1, and see if you can use second device to romon in via winbox.
Last resort if wrong credentials:
Password was changed back to default ? Admin blank or see sticker if there was one.
Otherwise I am afraid you’re out of luck… hopefully you have a recent backup or export of your config.
no specific error, just saying invalid password.
last thing I did was active API and create home assistant user and password, don’t understand wether i got hacked in some way throuh the API beacause I haven’t changed my password and it was stored in my brower.
winbox gives me the same result as webfig or ssh and I guess romon isn’t activated by default.
I did an export under ssh, can I just reset the router config and paste back my config to restore it as before ?

If that export was from before the last changes, you may be in luck !
should I reset to default config and reconfigure from router scratch or would you advise i do a netinstall.
if I do a netinstall will it keep the config but reset the password to default.

Reset to default config will wipe user settings.
For netinstall you have the choice to keep current config but then you are back in the situation you’re in now .
My advice: netinstall, clean config.
Then configure router again using earlier made backup.
Q: is that backup a digital backup ( from before the changes which locked you out) or a full export ( preferred since you can then paste back config piece by piece) ?
no back up was an export on cli.
could anything prevent etherboot ?
I have been trying for over 45 minutes with different reset button hold times and also eth ports cable is directly connected but i always end up with the router booting with my config.
should it be wan port or eth2 for the pc with netinstall and is there anything led change to look for on an RB5009.

For netinstall, use ether 1.
Keep reset pressed until it appears in netinstall window or cli, depending on how you launch it ( WIndows or Linux).
thanks for the reply, I keept going at it and finally got it working. the wiki should mention “press the reset button until pain appears” for me it took over a minute, reminds me of cisco 3850s. 
I use a small round-ended screwdriver to press tact switches. Spreading the pressure over your whole fingertip helps tremendously.
hopefully I wont get to do this too often
