RB532 and EVDO

Has anyone sucessfully implemented a EVDO card with a 532? or Does anyone know of a source for a mini-pci evdo interface card?

Thanks in advance

I haven’t seen the mini-pci evdo cards.

I saw on the internet they also have CF evdo cards. But we don’t have them so we are not sure if it is possible to add support for them.

There is a “mini-PCI Express” card from Novatel, EV620. Is there a mini-PCI Express slot coming in a future RB’s?

Also, do any RB’s have a PCMCIA slot? If so, would the Novatel x620 cards work in it?

Yes, a minipci express model is coming this summer.

RouterOS should support the following:

  • Audiovox PC5220 CDMA Dual Band 1XEV-DO PC Card for VerizonWireless
  • Verizon Express Network PC5220 (AirPrime 5220);
  • Kyocera KPC650 (Verizon Wireless)
  • Novatel Wireless CDMA card
  • Novatel U730 (Wireless HSDPA Modem)
  • Huawei Mobile Connect Model E620 (3G);
  • Novatel Merlin S720 (HSDPA);
  • Option G3 PCMCIA card (Vodafone UMTS);

Here is a question for you:

With the CF slot on the 532, would it be possible to use one of these CF-to-PCMCIA adapters (!) and then connect a non-storage PCMCIA card (like the EVDO cards, or even an Atheros or Prism PCMCIA card) up to the CF slot of the 532, or is the 532 CF slot strictly for storage?

(Even if this were to work, I doubt there would be many cards that this would be useful for, since most new stuff is CardBus and I very much doubt that it would work with CardBus cards.)

Mostly curious,

– Nathan
