RB532 Atheros 65mw as AP

Hi,

I am considering replacing a lot of Linksys AP’s with MT AP’s in the above configuration. I will use 12-15Dbi Omnis to serve customers within 1km range (2.4Ghz).. How well is the above system performing compared to Linksys? I have quite good range on the Linksys routers setting Xfer power to 240mw on both client and AP’s and i am wondering if i might need 200mw amps on the MT AP’s to get the same effect.. Also i am considering using 5Ghz cards to WDS to other APs and create a good backbone.. How far can i expect to reach with 22Dbi panels and 5Ghz + the Atheros cards, when i need at least 10Mbs real throughput in the backbone…

Please consider that if you’re planning to use
Atheros based card as an AP to serve multiple / diverse
client environment ( eg : Prism2, Realtek, Raylink, TI, etc2x)
the performance and stability would suffer because compatibility
problem. Please reconsider to use dedicated AP (CB3, and son)
with prism2 chipset, and doing authentication on MT box.

About 5-10 km perhaps ?

I’ve doing 25km+ install with 24 dBi dish and
i’ve got 9+ Mbps real troughput in 2.4 GHz.
