RB532(R5) dropping clients intermittently, even under 3.6

Hello,

We have a 532R5 that seems to lock up for varying durations, several times a day. The wlan interface indicates no data in or out during this outage; it won’t even serve its locally-stored status page. This situation often lasts long enough for clients to disassociate, and almost always long enough for applications (e.g., streaming) to time out. The CPU does not indicate any unusual loads during this time (mostly 10-20%, with occasional peaks to 100%).

The common symptom is that ROS seems to stop recognizing existing clients, and then handles data from them in various ways. Sometimes it reports that the existing client is attempting to associate, and accepts it by default. Sometimes it reports that the client is reassociating, disconnected, and connected (in that order). On those occasions, the client experiences a brief outage, then recovers.

On other occasions, the log suddenly reports “data from unknown device [client MAC], sent deauth” numerous times, and then the client attempts to reassociate as above.

Finally, there are times when all clients are affected simultaneously: the log reports a “disconnected, extensive data loss” event for all clients, often followed by a long series of “unknown device/deauth” events, until the client ends up disconnected/disassociated.

Any ideas? I can post whatever configuration & log entries that you would deem helpful. Thanks!

Would enable ping watchdog as an interm solution until you figure this out…
