RB532A+XR2+14 dbi sector suggestion needed

hi eveyone,

i have just setup a AP with:

RB532A (mikrotik 2.9.50)
XR2 (600mW) Mini pci card
and 14 dbi Vertical 120 deg Sector antenna at 105 feet height.

Is there anyone who tested the XR2 cards performance with RB532 as AP ? I need to know the result
having distance and throughput !

Please provide any information that you have. I am not getting good results !

We still have a couple of these (we’re phasing everything to 5.8GHz) and they work well at ±20 Km…
that little issue of Fresnel you know… depending on what height the antanis are on the client (station) side - and - what antennas are you using on the clients (stations)…???

But should work OK

i have 16 dbi parabolic dish & some 12 dbi grid antenna at clients site.

Can you please tell me with 120 deg sector (14 dbi gain) at AP (rb532a, XR2) end, how much distance can I make a link with 16 dbi dish at cpe end? And how many clients I can register? though MT has limit of 2007 stations, you know !

Please note my CPE end radio/wireless device power is 13 dbm & 15 dbm.

Try using this for starters…

Greetings!

I use SR2s, and I had a challenge with performance. I found the cause to be the antenna connector. On the SR2, the MMCX connector is ant-b, not the default ant-a. I notice the XR2 does not appear to have a secondary connector, but MAY have the same challenge with the connector assignment. I had really bad performance until I changed the antenna-mode setting to ant-b in the wireless setup.

I do not know where you are, but if you are using that antenna, and the full power on that card in the U.S., it better be a point-to-point setup, and that is not a good antenna selection for point-to-point. That much power in a point-to-multipoint setup would be in violation of CFR Part 15 (FCC regs).
