RB600 --- Power issue !!! Warning

Today we install this board in production… we can´t power the board from POE, the board seems don´t know where the power comes…

When the board was powered from the ethernet port: none of the leds blink or start up. On several tries, all the leds blink and no start up the board… (the power supply seems to be ok, It powered a 532A without problems). :open_mouth:

When the board was powered from the dc jack: It runs without problems… (Same power supply). :open_mouth:

Power supply, 48v 1A, setup (XR5, SR2, RH52)

There is any issue about powering???, or some rule about to take on mind before…???
Comments…???

check the Powerjumper J901/J701

direct-input power jack J901 or LAN1 Ethernet port J701

or ethernetcable evt. brocken ?

It is not an automatic feature…??? I don´t see any jumper… just two holes where must be the jumper (called jp901) and said DIS POE …???

HELP !!! i got another one, and it must be in a production place soon !!!

use cat.6 cable.

Can you explain the reason with more detail??? Thank you.

cat.6 is more thik and cooper integral. The power loss is lower than the cat.5. I have PoE on 160m on that type of cable.Maybe RB600 need more power than 532 and the power loss is proportional with the power consume.

Why don’t you send the power up through a length of LMR400.
If your in a pinch, you have to do what you KNOW will work.

I was testing the other board with a 1 meter cable, same stupid thing, there is a fail in this boards. Somebody got the same problem?

Yes. Exactly the same problem!
Local powered - ok, but throught PoE - is not work!

Please, if someboby solve this problem, please, post the solution for close
this question.

the PoE for Rb600 needs to be 48V, is it? It supports 38..56V DC

Im use ordered from http://www.routerboard.com power supply 18POW with RB/p54 passive unit.

Description (on this site) tell:

Power supplies and PoE
18POW : 18V Power Supply for use with RB532, RB150, RB133, RB133C , RB192, RB/333, RB411, RB600 (Europe, UK, US, Australian available)
RB/P54 Passive POE Base Unit for use with RB230, RB532, RB150, RB133, RB133C, RB192, RB333, RB/411, RB/600

Moreover, my card perfectly working, when I plug 18POW into powerjack on the board localy.

Do I miss something?

yes. You missed the PoE standard.
You need 48v 30w Power Adapter + Power plug for RB230, RB532, RB600 (Europe, UK, US available).
