now since the RB600 problem seems to be solved i have tried to go a step further. i have mounted the daughter board RB564 and populated it with 2x R52 and 2x CM9 in addition to the 4x R52 on the RB600.
i had a number of issues there with disabling and enabling wireless interfaces and ethernet interfaces which caused core dump of the kernel and made the whole system unusable and unstable. i would just like to know if others have successfully used a RB600 with any daughter board and fully equipped R52’s or other radios.
I’d like to augment this question with the following:
Has anyone used this daughterboard with the RB600 just as ethernet interfaces and had it work the way it is expected to?
I’m going to assume that the problem experienced in this original post is from a overdose of radio cards or some power problem. I’m hoping that this daughterboard works fine by itself as a 9 port ethernet router with RB600… anyone been there done that?
how about the MT people ? have you actually tried the boards without any problems ? i guess you must have otherwise you would not release the hardware as a platform for ROS !!
i have just got VERY careful since the RB600 reboot saga. a statement of the MT team would be highly appreciated.
Support emailed me and said that so long as you don’t have a wireless card in the rb600 then you can use the daughterboard without ptoblems. They said you can use the wireless slots on the daughterboard however. They said they are still working the problem.
any news on this ? i need more than 4 radios in one router. and the fact that you dropped the RB500 well before an equivalent replacement was available does not exactly help.
