I’m having a very bizarre issue I can’t seem to account for.
I have an RB750 in a dual-wan configuration set up strictly for failover.
The primary ISP is on Ether1 and it’s using the DHCP client to get it’s address.
The secondary ISP is on Ether5 and it has a static address; Ether5 has no master port in the switch config.
The route distance for the secondary ISP is set for 2.
I have outbound masquerading setup for both ether1 and ether5.
I took the default filter rules for the RB750 and duplicated them for ether5.
The issue is that every 10-20 minutes, the routerboard seems to freeze up. When this happens, I’m kicked out of winbox and the internet doesn’t work for 1-3 minutes. I’m usually able to log back into Winbox using the MAC address before the internet comes back. I’ve tried with a second routerboard and had the same results.
My thoughts are that either my configuration is causing the issue or there’s a machine inside that’s attracting an attack. If that’s the case, I’m not sure how to log it and pin it down, especially since I’m kicked out of Winbox every time it happens. And if it’s an attack, the cheap D-link they had before must have been warding it off and I’m not sure how to get the routerboard to do the same thing.
