RB750 Power Adapters could blow unit ?

Hi Everyone

One of my suppliers recently stopped supplying the Mikrotik RB750s with the usual power adapter which come inside the box.

Instead they supply us with their own power adapters which are 12V / 2.4A .

I am now worried that they may blow the units or cause hanging up (as I have read in other forum topics)

I know the volt rage for the RB750 is 8-28V, but what is the amp range?

I get the feeling my supplier is trying to cut costs by supplying cheaper PSUs

Your device will only draw as much current (amps) as it needs. So hooking up a router that draws 1A to a 2.6A power supply won’t hurt anything as long as the voltage is in spec and the polarity of the connector is correct, and it is according to the box.

I’ve been thinking of replacing the 24V adapters on the RB-Grooves we have here with one big 12V adapter since the line runs to the devices are less than 10 feet. Big 12V adapters are a dime a dozen, but big 24V ones are a little harder to find.

Thanks Jack

Much appreciated.
