Hi guys
Just playing with an RB750G, I stripped out the default config and added 1 bridge, addressed it and added in the 5 ports.
Just wanting to use it as a dumb hub/switch for a day or two before I route things.
Off the 5 ports, only port 1 and 5 report active.. Port 2 and 3 show disabled. Port 4 is unused!
Cant understand why ports 2 and 3 show disabled but the unit is passing traffic as expected! and all my bridge hosts show up on ether5 excepting my own PC on port 1
Perhaps you do not have Ethernet cable plugged in to Ether2/Ether3 ports (there is no link and that’s why such status is shown).
Hi Sergejas
Only just spotted your reply. Didnt bother to check in again on the RB750, since although the ports were showing as disabled yet it was working successfully.
Now I see your post and I have logged back into the RB750g, it reports normal. All ports active excepting port 4 which is unterminated. And better still the network hosts are spread across the rest of the interfaces as expected.
I guess it must have been just one of those weird things that happens and somehow manages to correct itself.
A bit like the other RB750G (brand new) that after a couple of days use, failed to start up. Even the single “on” led wouldn’t light up. I tested the supply, all OK, then tried a 12V supply and it re-started (currently running on 28V). Then switched back to 28v supply and again the unit appeared dead.
Uploaded ros5.0beta2, put back the 28V supply and it has been as good as gold.
Anyhow, you are a clever chap.. Can you answer my post about switching from Layer2 to Layer3, no one else seems interested in it!
