RB750Gr3 Poor CIFS Performance

Mikrotik professionals,

I have a lab network with two RB750Gr3 routers that I am using to learn (I come from a Cisco background). Currently, I have the routers in a dual-wan configuration where one router has a NAS connected to the 10.0.5.0/24 LAN port, and the other router has a workstation connected to the 10.0.2.0/24 LAN port. Routing information is shared via OSPFv2 and the 10.0.2.0/24 network uses VRRP to have router redundancy (.1 is VIP and .2 and .3 are the routers).

Overall, this setup has been working well for me. I ran IPerf test between my workstation and NAS and got around 933 Mbps (which is what I expect from these routers). However, when I mount a CIFS share hosted on my NAS from my workstation and transfer files, I see speeds of 200 - 400 Mbps. I know for a fact that my NAS is not the problem because I can directly connect to it and get ~1Gbps speeds.

How can I get ~1Gbps speeds from IPerf tests while I get approximately half of that speed while transferring files over CIFS?

I’ve looked into “fasttrack” and I can see that router 1 is not fast-tracking the connection for some reason… (the ‘con’ attachment has more details) I have attached the firewall config of both routers also.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
