RB750UP questions/suggestions

  1. As some people already suggested - please do shielded Ethernet ports, for proper grounding of radios over FTP cable shield.
  2. Are the PoE power switches and current monitors in the high side (positive)? Otherwise it may not work properly if the radios have grounds (negative) shorted by cable shields (and sometimes also antenna mounts and the mast).
  3. It would be nice to see just boards without plastic cases and power supplies for lower cost, which could be built into larger box (commonly used in alarm/CCTV systems) with 13.8V power supply and sealed lead acid battery backup.
  4. With the higher total power supply current, please consider screw terminals for thick wires (more robust than 5.5/2.1 connector), and third one for RJ45 ground.

With all this, the RB750UP would be perfect for my small repeaters (running a few, currently with dumb 5-port 10/100 switches - some old 3Com with shielded ports, accepting 10-30V DC power, easy to modify for PoE with some soldering, boards built into the box with power supply and battery backup).

A RB750GUP would be good too…

Pat

Im agree too..

Also, hopefully in the future Mikrotik will come out with one that has 10+ ports.

Is this thing still alive?

RB750UP is needed.

it is alive and kicking. I have several on my desk running.

So does that mean US distributors will have any in the next couple weeks?

How RB751U and RB751G?

We just got hit by lightning. Now I get to rebuild with new stuff, tho I was hoping for better circumstances. Its working patched for now.

Now would be an awesome time to find out the RB750UP is available. It would make my power box much neater.

What’s the time frame looking like?

Can you share launchdate with us? Will it be available in Septembre?

yes, it should be available in september

I’ll be buying at them in September.

It’s September.. any updates (launchdate) on RB 750UP yet?

sadly last news is that it is pushed back to end of October.

More than a bad message. :frowning:
I don’t know where the problem is to switch power on and off.
I can’t understand MTs business strategy. In the past everthing was a total secret and suddenly a 180 deg turn was made with a mass announcement of new products. Now I see that we can’t give anything on the given timelines…
Really bad

That’s probably why they didn’t announce stuff. Inconsistencies in the supply line make them look bad.

Doh!!!
(like homer simpson said… :frowning: )

those pesky suppliers :frowning:

Will I be able to buy any of these at the MUM? Even a half dozen would help me finish some projects I have been waiting months to complete.

I am also waiting since June for RB750UP. I need to rebuilding the AP. Unfortunately, after a while begins to fall again the snow, so I’ll have to take solder and do something myself. I think neither will there be this year.

depends about witch MUM exactly you are talking about.

Anyway, these are good looking boards. Doing full load testing.
