we are using 10RB751 in a student pension in 5 floors. Each floor contains 30 students with their laptops(most of them support G Band) ,2 AP in 150m2 diameter with different frequencies and all in ‘2Ghz-Only-G’ band. The problem is that when 3 or more students connect to the AP(RB751) with a good signals and good throughput the speed become low and even equal 0. we even test it with windows BW-test(mikrotik product) and it is obviously shows the low speed when the concurrent users become more.
we also test:
1- changing frequency (the problem exist)
2- changing data rate (the speed become better but some users even with a good signals can not connect to the AP and windows says:‘Unable to connect to SSID’)
3- change the band to ‘2.4Ghz-Only-N’ ( the speed was great with 3 or 4 users,but it is become bad and slow with more users and also the problem is that many of students do not have wifi N supported)
4-change the ‘dynamic’ distance in advance tab of wireless to the ‘indoor’ ( the problem exists)
5- Engenius,D-Link,Loopcomm,… APs and the problem exist, but with the Proxim radio even with the 40 students on one AP their all speed was great.
Actually I believe in Mikrotik and I think if the proxim radio can solve the slow speed ,Mikrotik can do too, then please help us who has a experience on this issue.
