RB800 support for 3G modems

Hi everyone,

I have a RB800 and i use a miniPCI to miniPCIe expansion card with a USIM mountable slot, which allows connecting a 3G modem. Whenever i connect the expansion card to an RB800 it powers on but the RB800 doesn’t detect the Sierra Airprime 3G modem. I am wondering if it is a USB support issue, or 3G drivers missing from the wireless package for RB800.

I would appreciate anybody’s insight as to why i am unable to connect to 3G using the same. The expansion slot works fine with RB411U boards. I have tried using it on another RB800 board as well but still have the same results.

Cheers,
Thanks in advance

This type of question, regarding internal drivers, would be best sent to support@mikrotik.com. They are the only one’s that know for sure what drivers are included with which software.

Cheers thanks…will do that…

RB800 minipci-e slot is not used for 3G cards. It is used only for wireless cards, such as Atheros chipset wireless cards.

But would 3G cards with onboard SIM connector (Like some Novatel cards have) work on a RB800,
or is there no USB functionality implemented on the miniPCI-e slot?

there is no USB functionality implemented on the RB800 board

That explains it then. Thanks!

I know this topic is damn old but I would like to ask here rather than make a new one, since brief history is here.

And know the question follows: are there any chages about USB support in RB800?

It would be nice to attach 3G USB modem as backup channel over Mini PCI-E USB controller.
