We’ve been using RB800’s for MAX throughput. I love the power of these RB912 boards, but only 600mhz CPU? How about a 800mhz CPU, or make a PCI card with same power so us PtP users can take FULL advantage of the high db output???
You can running rb912G on 800Mhz (750Mhz). Only one problem is the temperature. If rb912 located in the hot box —> then running 600Mhz
If you disable connection tracking and don’t do any other cpu-heavy stuff then the CPU on this board is fast enough for the fastest 3x3 802.11n/NV2 connections.
Where do I disable “connection tracking” ???
Winbox/Webfig: IP > Firewall > Connections > Tracking
In RouterOS there is an ‘auto’ option that enables/disables tracking when needed.
What exactly does connection tracking do? Is there any advantage?
Also, can anyone post the most efficient method for PtP setups? I’m currently using:
Master:
Bridge/WDS/NV2
SLAVE:
Station-WDS/Protocol - Any
I see a lot of new settings such as “station-bridge” and so forth. Does that mean you don’t have to use WDS anymore? Lowering, stabilizing latency would be nice too, I’ll have to work on that. If its just PtP, and not PtP, I thought there was a way to lower latency.
I’m not sure if the firewall works without connection tracking, but I’m fairly certain that mangle does not, neither does masquerade (NAT).
