Hi, this is my first topic.
Recently I installed a RB951. It was with all configuration removed and only configuration was:
One bridge with all eth ports and wireless port too on it.
When connect the cable on eth1 no link is displayed and I have not connection. So I connected the cable on eth2, and the chasis display link on eth2 and eth1.
When connect via winbox I see some traffic on eth1 (no cable is connected).
Is there any reason for that?
Thanks!
Hi.
This behavior looks like if you have some of your port in master/slave with the switch chipset, did you remove this configuration from default config ?
There are not master or slave ports configured.
When you say “switch chipset”, is that something on the hardware?

Hi.
When you set a master-port to some port, that port will be a part of switch chip.
Check the ethernet config to see if have a master-port.
Winbox: Interfaces > Ethernet > etherX
Terminal: /interface ethernet print
No switch mode, the master port show as None.
Like this:
[b@b] > /interface ethernet print
# NAME MTU MAC-ADDRESS ARP MASTER-PORT SWITCH
0 RS ether1 1500 xxxxxx enabled none switch1
1 ether2 1500 xxxxxx enabled none switch1
2 ether3 1500 xxxxxx enabled none switch1
Also show your LED config.
Winbox: System > LEDs
Terminal: /system leds print
