Hi, I want to buy new RB951ui or RB951G for home usage and it seems that wi-fi antennas on this routers are very weak.
There is a post where man solder pigtail and add external antenna to RB951. Can anybody make instructions where to solder pigtail on PCB? I found RB951-2Hn pcb image:
Support says that RF connectors on board are not for wi-fi.
Why do you think they are weak? They are for home or small office use, and will work fine with any laptop or phone, no matter what distance they are at.
How far did you expect it to work, and what is your client device ?
InoX is right, this board is not similar to RB951Ui or RB951G which you want.
I also suggest you to buy and test first, before thinking about any soldering. These devices will not disappoint you, I don’t see any reason for soldering.
@normis, they have 2.5dBi antenna. I live in old house, which have brick walls 0.65 meters thick, I need to have normal signal in room which is after two walls from router. I think if it will have bad signal I need to have an ability to boost it, but I need technical advice to do it properly
From experience, you will not have problems in this type of house. I have signal on opposite side of building, across the street, when already driving away with my car.
