My RB951G-2HnD is running ROS 7.13. I tried upgrading to 7.13.2. I uploaded the proper 7.13.2 NPK file, rebooted, and was still on ROS 7.13. The uploaded NPK file was gone from the FILES area, so the router did something with it.
I want to pin this down before I upgrade any other devices.
Are you sure you downloaded the right package, typically this happens when you download .npk but it’s not for your CPU. Also maybe you didn’t add extra needed package such as wireless package.
Thank you for your response, Yes, I have the correct MIPSBE package. In the past when I’ve uploaded the incorrect package, it is still there on reboot. This MIPSBE package disappeared on reboot.
I tried the Quickset method and it DID work. However, the method I described (upload the correct package to FILES, then reboot) has worked for years for me. I must have done something wrong, but I don’t know what.
RB951G doesn’t utilize RAM disk. So whatever gets downloaded when running built-in upgrade function, lands on flash disk as well. Disk usage would thus be a problem in both cases (manual and ROS).
However, if an upgrade fails, like it did for @OP, the first thing to check is logs. As the npk disapeared, it’s obvious that ROS did pick it up but failed to apply. And in this case something most definitely should be in the logs, right at the beginning after boot message.
