Have a RB951G-2HnD that was running as my dad’s home router, but now the power LED just flashes rapidly (2x/second).
When it flashes, I can hear a very faint ticking sound.
I’ve tried another known good working power supply and the flashing/ticking is slightly slower, but the device still will not boot up normally.
I’m afraid this one has moved on to the MikroTik afterlife, but figured I’d post up here to see if there are any tips/tricks that might be able to recover it.
The RB951G-2Hnd should have a beeper, and it should beep on booting.
If it doesn't (because it is set to silent boot), it is anyway likely that the faint click comes from the beeper, it should be a sign that it doesn't get enough power or however that the power is unstable, which in turn points towards the usual suspects (failed electrolytic capacitors).
So maybe it can be saved with a couple new capacitors, if you have a solder iron and know how to use it is usually easy to try this repair, if you don't have suitable replacement capacitors handy ordering just a few of them should cost anyway a few bucks at the most.
