Hi, I have a RB951G-2HnD that I bought a couple of years ago that I set up but didn’t end up using. I recently decided to start using it for my home network but I ran into some problems. I connected it to power and connected an ethernet cable to my windows 10 laptop. I was able to get to the login screen but did not remember the login I had set up so I attempted to reset the router using the button as well as the pcb contacts on the underside but the default login did not work. In addition, I could not see any networks that seemed to be consistent with the router. I then downloaded netinstall and routeros 6.41 (it previously had an older version of routeros, not sure of the exact version). I was able to connect to the router using netinstall and to update the routeros. After resetting the router, I can no longer access the login page at 192.168.88.1 with an ethernet cable plugged into any of the ports, I cannot see the router using winbox or netinstall and I do not see any SSIDs that seem to match the router. I have turned off the windows firewall, antivirus, etc. I have tried it on another windows pc. The router lights turn on, it powers up and looks seemingly normal and does not look bricked to me although I could be mistaken. I am using a 24v 5amp psu just to make sure that it is not from a lack of power.
Is there anything else I can do other than just buying a new one?
Thanks,
Mike
Make sure you connect your computer to ports 2-5. Just to be sure, in your PC, disable firewall, antivirus. Run “Winbox” tool as administrator (right click on the exe, “run as administrator”). Also make sure your winbox is latest version from our webpage. Disable all other interfaces in Windows (wireless, etc). Then make sure the device is powered on and the appropriate LAN port indicator is green. Open Winbox and use the Neighbors tab to see if the device is discovered.
