RB951G-2HnD - Quickset and CPE

I’m new to ROS and Mikrotik routers.

Yesterday, with original ROS firmware ROS 5.xx system installed: Selecting Quickset and CPE was working without a router reboot and config settings could be adjusted without a reboot.

Later upgraded the ROS to 6.22: Today selecting Quickset and CPE results in a router reboot and has to be hard reset to access the router again.

I am on Linux OS and how can I downgrade back to ROS 5.2? This seems not to be possible or easy or I am missing something through the webconfig page and details on this in Mikrotik documentation seem to be non existant.

Thanks for any suggestions.

To downgrade, if you have SSH access to the device, upload the version with FTP and issue “/system package downgrade” command. This is the package http://download2.mikrotik.com/routeros/5.26/routeros-mipsbe-5.26.npk

→ But before that, I suggest using the “/system reset” command in v6.22 and trying the Quickset once more.

OK thanks seems complicated and will go back to my TPlink routers until tomorrow when I will try to find a windows computer to do the downgrade ( Dont want to waste hours trying to figure out how to do what should be a simple downgrade) Why is this downgrade option not available in the webfig?

Is there an issue with the quickset in firmware V6.22: Selecting CPE or PTP Bridge in the quickset menu causes the router to reboot before giving a chance to change any other settings and then have to hard reset the router to gain entry again, seems illogical.

With wine can use winbox and have suceeded to downgrade the ROS to 5.26.

Thanks.

No, I am not aware of any issue that could cause router to reboot when using the CPE menu, this is why I suggested a reset, to make sure you start fresh

You can also do the reset with the reset button. Unplug power, hold the reset button, plug in power, when the USR LED starts flashing, release button

In Webfig (through firefox browser)
In webfig when selecting the quickset and then CPE or PTP Bridge causes the router to reboot almost immediately and cannot get in again without reset because I dont know what subnet the router has acquired for itself since I dont have a chance to set anything and my computer connected by ethernet cannot make a connection.

Both the above , for myself, need a hard reset by unplug, push the reset button and power on and the router reboots and resets to default config 192.168.88.1; Then I can access the router again.

In Winbox
None of the above is happening. Selecting the CPE or PTP Bridge in quickset and the router reboots and is able to be accessed without reset.

There seems to be a bug in Webfig quickset menus or I am not using the quickset and settings of the router the right way?
