Per your opinion, how many simultaneous connections (IP’s) can the Mikrotik RB951G handle via LAN?
Topology
Modem -->RB951G–>Switch—>3x Unifi UAP Mesh Pro
Subnet → /24 considering /23 as the pool get’s used quickly. Current solution was to drop the lease time to like 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Type of Usage → Ranging from Whatsapp Messaging/Email to light internet usage and perhaps stream.
No heavy firewalls as it’s handled by the remote HUB.
My estimate is around 50-70 LAN connections without falling over.
Please confirm what is your experience.
I am not sure I understand what you are trying to determine here, but my 2c’s
RB951G is a SOHO device, 50 - 70, or even using up a /24 subnet, is not a SOHO environment.
As per your topology, LAN - LAN packets / frames should not touch the router.
I think the capacity of the router should be determined by the internet link speed and number of packets traversing the router.
saying “…and perhaps stream” is like how long is a piece of string, what doe they stream, 4k? If so, dont think that router will suffice so maybe some clarity needed here
