RB960PGS - SFP + 5 Lan

Hello. I guess this device could fit all my needs, but I wonder if RB960PGS can work as “media converter with 5 lan ports”? Or SFP “shared” with eth1? (I need to connect 5 IP-cameras (each one to its eth-port) to fiber and place all devices outdoor at pole (Siberia))

That’s exactly the scenario is intended for, but bear in mind only four of the ports can provide POE: ether2-5; ether1 is for POE in only.

If you need to power all 5 cameras, you could use two RB960PGS, the first one will receive power via ether1, and power 3 cameras + second 960PGS, and second 960PGS will power the remaining two.

Only parameter to keep an eye on is Max current per port (1A) for the port on the first HeX PoE powering the second one, do you know each camera max power draw?

SFP port has its own direct 1Gb/s lane to CPU:

Nice. That’s what I was looking for. Thanks, pukkita

And another one question - has anyone placed such device (or any in series RB960, RB951, RB750, RB2011, CRS112-8G-4S-IN) outside in winter (of course placed in box or something to cover from precipitation) about minus 30 degrees in Celsius? At routerboard.com it’s mentioned that tested ambient temperature is about -30 to +70 C. But has anyone mentioned devices really working in a field?

If you have your device in an closed enclosure and powered up, it will never go to -30 degrees, since it produces some heat.
So it will probably have no issues.
