RBLHGG-60adkit - Setup

Afternoon,

Complete noob posting on here. Currently have two buildings that need the network bridging - Using the various calculators the distance is around 1.8km.

Previously for this we have used Unifi p2p setups that worked well but finally died a death. The user interface was spot on though and was easy enough to discover networks broadcasting and see the available signal strength making it slightly easier to make alignment once pointed roughly at each other.

To other buildings we’ve had companies come in and install the RBLHGG-60adkit which has worked perfect. Decided to purchase these ourselves and attempt to replace the previous Unifi units but it is not going as well. I’ve left everything on defaults, placed the master on the main building and the slave on the other - With binoculars i can see the slave building (just, I’m sure a stronger pair would be better!).

Calculators show the rough direction and angle for positioning with just a -0.01 tilt. Is it just the case of trial and error for the positioning on these and waiting for them to connect? There doesn’t seem to be anything from WinBox to help support initial connection and searching around just says once they’re aligned, they will connect. How generous the connection initially or am i looking at having to be really accurate for any connection considering its 60Ghz? Assuming broadcast power is auto to support distances once connected.

Any tips or pointers would be appreciated!

Thanks
