Hi I have just come back to my rbltap-2hnd&r11e-lte6 unit, after moving to LHG LTE18 kit, I have found that sim slot 1 which was working fine before i removed the sim into the lte18 kit has gone, and has been removed from the modem option, slot 2 and 3 are available but not 1, I have done a factory reset and a LTE firmware update and a software update to make everything up to date, then done another factory reset, to no joy, sim slot 1 is not available, can anyone but light on this please.
Have you taken into account these remarks from Quick guide ?
Especially remark on orientation of SIM card and/or which PCI slot uses which SIM slot ?
Block diagram is maybe more clarifying ?
miniPCIe slot
SIM card connectivity
• MiniPCIe 1 (top slot) supports PCIe and USB 2.0 cards but is shared with the USB 2.0 type A port (can use
either the USB port or miniPCIe slot at the same time). Can be used only SIM slot #1.
• MiniPCIe 2 (bottom slot) supports only USB (2.0 and 3.0) miniPCIe modems (no PCIe support). Uses SIM
slot #2 and SIM slot #3. By default uses SIM slot #2.
• USB 2.0 type A port (can only be used if miniPCIe 1 is not used).
• To use the top miniPCIe slot with a USB type miniPCIe card, switch the USB connections to the miniPCIe
slot: /system routerboard usb set type=mini-PCIe This will disable the USB 2.0 port on the front of the unit.
• Insert the SIM card into the top slot by chip on the SIM card facing down. Bottom slots – with chip facing
up.
Please check if you are using the correct SIM slot. For the modem inserted in the bottom mini-pcie slot
you need to use either sim slot 2 or sim slot 3. And the used sim slot needs to be selected in RouterOS.
CLI command to select the sim slot: /system routerboard modem set sim-slot=2
Thank you for getting back to me, can i ask how did sim slot 1 work when i got it out of the box year ago, I just inserted a sim then just basics config and never looked back, i have never used the CLI to change the or edit the usb type.
I will play with the unit this weekend and see what i get working.
