That’s awesome! I wonder why they don’t mention it anywhere.
Also, looking into the MT7621A datasheet it mentions another cool feature (though I don’t know if ROS makes use of it).
I like the idea of having GPIO pins, but I guess the potential will be rather limiting. I love RouterOS but I don’t expect its scripting language to be any better in that aspect, than what someone can do with python or any other language on a raspberry pi for example. Nonetheless it’s a welcome feature (if that what is really for)
I can see this RB being a really cool device for the power user at SOHO environments.
It has good enough resources for high bandwidth.
You can have dual band wifi of your choice.
You can later on upgrade the wifi without having to replace the whole board.
Or you can have a proper wifi ‘repeater’ with 2 radios.
You can use antennas of your choice instead of the 1.5dB PCB printed antennas that other models usually have.
You can use MikroTik’s case for this RB or make a custom one (personalized design).
It will certainly be pricey in the end, but you’ll end up with a single device that does it (almost) all!
I really like this model!
The only thing I don’t like (in all new models) is that stupid 16MB flash…
