I have two RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD units that are not working as expected. After a few minutes of operation, they go offline and lose connection with CapsMan. They do not reconnect automatically — I have to unplug the power for a long time and then plug them back in. Sometimes they reconnect to CapsMan, but often they don’t, and I have to restart them again.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong or what I can do to fix this?
I’ve tried using Netinstall and running them in Router mode, but they still go offline. So it’s not only when they are in Caps mode that they shut down.
I have tried three different drivers and experienced the same problem with all of them.
All devices are running version 7.19.4.
- CapsMan is running on:
1x RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN (version 7.19.4) — working as expected
- Working unit:
1x RBwAP2nD — working as expected
- Problematic units:
2x RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD — not working properly
When talking about Mikrotiks firmware there are something
you have to know, there two of them and Mikrotik uses two words.
In the best worlds the both of them should have the same version.

My first guess here would be power issues … how are those failing devices powered ?
From where ? What voltage ? Line distance ?
Already tried direct power input on those devices with their delivered PSU (just to see if they can function normally when being powered directly) ?

RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD can only be driven by POE no external power 
Hmm .. wAP versions I have used (wap AC arm and wAP AX) all have dedicated input for PSU. Didn’t know mipsbe version doesn’t have that.
But still there should have been a POE adapter in the box which you can connect the PSU to ?
I have tried POE adapter in the box to with the same problem.

Test the devices with short cable (between injector and wAP ac) to exclude cables from being problematic.
Alternatively, turn off one or both radios and watch if they remain online.
Also … when you can power it up, keep log window in front of you and see if you can spot where it becomes unresponsive.
Another option is to reset to clean status = NO config.
Then add config piece by piece (for caps device, shouldn’t be too much).
Especially with activation of radios, enable them one by one and make sure sufficient time is given for DFS checks etc. before enabling the second one.
At a certain moment it has to fail again and then normally the latest action should have been the trigger.
But it surprises me a bit that 2 identical devices exhibit the exact same behavior.
I’ve figured out that it’s the 5GHz that’s causing them to go down. If I disable wifi2 5ghz , they stay up. But now I’ve probably bricked them — I can’t get them into Netinstall mode. I was planning to downgrade them to 6.49.11 to see if they work better with older drivers
I believe some earlier models of these wAP AC units had 5Ghz radios that failed over time from heavier loads. I had some that wouldn’t stay stable, other users reported similar issue on older forum.
What routerOS version and firmware?
All devices are running version 7.19.4
I've spent countless hours trying to get this to work, and I think I've tried everything. The wAP units stay 'up' for a short while, then they reboot and fail to find CAPsMAN.
So I gave up and bought an RBwAPG-5HacD2HnD, and it worked immediately.
It must be that the RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD is not compatible with the RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN.
