RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD . netinstall . config fail

just a low priority post … that may … or may not be of interest:

reanimated a ‘RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD’ which I received as DoA from ebay … spend 3 hours on it ! :frowning:

device came in from a probably failed openwrt-install-session
… no word on ethernet nor wifi
… after a 10sec-reset-button-reset “Old Bricky” was asking for a vmlinuz-kernel on ethernet-interface via port 67

started netinstall … reinstalled the rightful software in it’s rightful place

.

and … I did this multiple times … via netinstall … and with tftpd64 … and again … and again

.

but I could NOT connect to the device … mind-quirked about a flash-failure … doing over and over :imp:

but only:

… because I did not switched my mind… the suggested ip for the ethernet-interface for debricking has network 192.168.88.0 ( why not follow a suggestion - when the tool is offering) …
but after a succesfully made debrick of a “two-port”-wireless-device your "management-network (192.168.88.x/24) is switching from ethernet to wireless : |
the Tool says you succeeded … ping says too … but you can’t connect … (no IP or MAC-Server … just nothing … because the default-config switched you to the wan-interface, after reboot)
only because, you’ve forget to switch … your mind … to wireless :open_mouth:

as I said … not really a post, but a story of switching the mind
… just another unnecessary network-misery :sunglasses:
… winter is coming … x-mas too :sunglasses:
