RC6 Adaptive noise Immunity

What’s this do?

Sounds neat whatever it is.

Also, what is Frame Lifetime?

Wireless/advanced

frame-lifetime - how long to keep the packet (in cent seconds) for retransmition after the first trasmit attempt. 0 means unlimited (until the client disconnection).
noise immunity - atheros hardware supports that so we just added this feature.

how about the abstract from the patent?

Wireless local area networks must work in less than ideal environments, including environments having externally and internally generated interfering RF signals. Interfering signals can cause significant problems with signal detecting, amplifier gain adjustment, and signal decoding. Various parameters of the WLAN receiver can be adjusted to mitigate the effects of interference. By selectively adjusting sets of these parameters, receiver sensitivity and interference immunity can be advantageously balanced. In one embodiment, adjustments to these parameter sets can be made in response to different sources of interference.

Any better? From what I can gather, if the signal you are receiving has no or little interference, you will not see any benefit. But if your environment DOES have interference, either from the computer equipment itself, or from external sources such as other WLAN sources, microwave ovens etc., Atheros have a patented method of alleviating that interference to a certain degree by various means.

One method (amongst many) that they propose in the patent to alleviate interference to a received signal is to dynamically alter (read lower) the receiver sensitivity.

IMHO this feature must be enabled by default and there are no need for option to disable it - correct me if I am wrong.

Mt give ALL of us the options, that why we’re all here,
Would be nice to know if it works on all atheros chipsets?

Anyone know what chipsets/cards this feature applies to?

The AR6001XL and AR6001GL are the only products I can find that Atheros are claiming in their sales brochures have any kind of interference immunity or spur cancellation. I.e. others may have it, but Atheros are not publicly claiming they have.

are any radio’s on the market even using those chipsets? none of the ones I can think of are…

whatever is it, we ran into problems of packet failer. after changing zero amount to 20 it start working. but still researching how it can help. whats the time ratio? miliseconds?
