RC9 Compact Flash not booting.

Hello,

I downloaded and installed 3.0 RC9 onto a 256MB compact flash. The installer detected, formatted and installed all the options I selected but upon reboot the machine does not boot from the compact flash. It begins to load but stops with the “could not find disk!” error. Any thoughts on what might be going wrong?

we are like this since v3 r01.

we still couldnt find a solution.

What motherboard are you using? Intel?

Greets, Max

so you are saying that 3.0beta worked on that board but starting from 3.0rc1 you had no luck running RouterOS on that PC?

NO, I didnt have that luck yet.

Any version I tried on Intel dg33 motherboards didnt boot. (but it does on earlier motherboards).

We have the same problem with one another board from Intel. So we write to Intel Support and answer is, thet on new boards there is no boot support for CF. But in 3.x you can use USB…

No no no…

I cannot boot any release3 from any media. Not even SATA, IDE, USB… it tried all, and always is a new problem. if I use CD for installing… after boot it says NOT CD FOUND. (ilogic, but true). If i use Netinstall, it installs fine over sata or USB, but later It doesnt boot.

I am getting crazy with it.

Lot of hardware, and I cannot use it.

Luck for all!

I also couldn’t get any version 3 beta to boot on a x86 compact flash. I tried 2 different motherboards both running AMD/via chips. The kernel would start to load but then would seem to hang. I have 2.9.4x running on both these boards with no probs.

Intel dg33 motherboard uses g33 chipset that is not actually supported by RouterOS (and most probably it is not supported bu Linux kernel also).
