RDS2216 Cluster/HA

Hi Mikrotik Community,

i have two RDS2216, each with 6x NVMe Disks.
i want to use it as “shared” RAID6 Block- or as NFS-Storage to connect to virtualization Servers (like XCP-NG/Xen-Server or Proxmox)

currently i want to play with the “cluster” features, to be able to reboot one of the RDS’s (Firmwareupdate or maybe Power-loss…)

The PDF (https://cdn.mikrotik.com/web-assets/product_files/RDS2216-2XG-4S4XS-2XQ_250348.pdf) on page three says “near-instant failover”
and in the YouTube Video of the RDS (https://youtu.be/g1wpIIfYpZA?si=oijyDvEXMAsVOQKg&t=150) @normis talks from “redundant highspeed database clusters”. (min 2:30)

ok - but how?

is Normis talking about the BTRFS remote Snapshots: https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/spaces/ROS/pages/295239711/Btrfs#Btrfs-Transferyoursnapshots ?

Second Question is, should i use BTRFS-RAID6 or NATIVE-RAID6 to share NFS?

Best Regards,
YAN

Hi TikYAN,

have you found some solution to your questions?

I have same question…..

Davide

Hi @davidemiccone - no, unfortunately not.

see another Post, it’s maybe possible to run CEPH Nodes as Container on the RDS.

or

Use DRBD in a Container wich replicates the Volumes to another RDS.

But didn’t tested it so far.

If you find something, keep me updated

Best Regards
