Re: iOS 18 bug after connecting to Mikrotik Wi-Fi ( SOLVED )

Hi,
I have the most strange problem.

In the office, I have been working with a Mikrotik router for many years, I have replaced it with newer models. I have been with C53UiG+5HPaxD2HPaxD for several years now. I also have iPhones 14 Pro Max IOS 18.0.1 which until recently were respectively on IOS 17.7 … We all lived happily until the moment when IOS 18.0 appeared.

I go to a client and notice that all the other networks saved in the phone start giving the wrong password. I check the passwords, everything is fine. I forgot them , enter it again, same problem… wrong password again.
I reset the IOS network settings and connect successfully to all of them. I go back to the office and there I connect successfully, but suddenly the problem appears again with all other networks.

In the end, no matter what I do, once I connect to mikrotik Wi-FI , all the other networks start giving the wrong password. And they are at different destinations, different models, even at home, Car. Including hotspot from phone’s give me wrong password .

I have no idea how my Mikrotik router break part of the OS like that. I don’t know if it’s ‘“LOVE”’, but it’s giving me a big headache. Every time after I’m in the office ( after connect Mikrotik ),if need to connect to another network, I have to reset the network setting on the phone.

I made a test whit other Iphone 13 Pro
18.0 same problem,
18.0.1 - same problem.
the latest version 17.x.x IOS before 18.0 - work without any issue

 Does anyone have a similar problem and can help how to get rid of this bug.

P.S. a week ago I informed Apple support about this, they were doing diagnostics on the first read. For a whole week I have talked to them more than to my wife . They wonder and wonder. We will have a conversation about this again on Monday. I didn’t mention to them that the problem appears right after connection with mikrotik, but I only found it today.

Thanks
not exactly the same as my problem but it helped fix it. After enabling CCMP 256 GCMP 256, the bug in IOS 18 stopped. Now all saved networks started to work normally as before after resetting network connections on Iphone. Very interesting, just how the lack of these 2 protocols break all saved wireless networks on Ios 18.
I have send this issue to Apple support.

Regards

Maybe it already helped to enable GCMP? Default is CCMP enabled only (according to docs).

CCMP is the default encryption method and it works out of the box with any macOS/ iOS/ iPadOS device that I’ve ever used with my ax^3.
