Reading eventlog " error events " with The Dude version 3.4

Hello Guys and Girls,

We are using version 3.4 of the Dude ( beginner ), but we can’t receive SNMP traps from the remote computers. On the remote computers the SNMP service is working fine within the community “public”.

Target : we want to read the error events in the eventlog of the remote computers and notify by email a group of persons. Our first concern is to read the status of the intel raid contoller if any disk is missing or has a malfunction.In the eventlog we see the error on the ftdisk but no warning is send out to the dude.

Can anyone help us or do we need to install other software to get our target ? We’ve take a look to " nettools Pro version 4,0" but preference is going to The Dude because it has a good graphical interface.

I don’t believe that the dude receives traps although I could be wrong. Alternativly you should be able to install a trap listener on the same server as the dude. You will want to search the forum for traps, I thought someone had tried to send traps to syslog but wasn’t successful(garbage in syslog).

Maybe search sourceforge for a trap listener until they add this function to the dude is what I think would be easiest…
