Rebuilding WISP IP Address Networking Questions

Hello,

I am replacing a home-made 2.4 ghz system serving 30 users over 10 miles with MikroTik Routerboard 450g’s and Ubiquity 5ghz sector antennas and nano stations. On my old IP address system I used one subnet and it was laid out like this…

192.168.1.1 - Router Gateway DHCP server (Connected to WAN)

192.168.1.2-10 - Network Cameras
192.168.1.100-160 - DHCP Assigned User Addresses
192.168.1.200-254 - Wireless Radio and Router Addresses

I was really learning when I set this system up. I do not like how every user has LAN access across my network, and can give me IP conflicts.

I am planning on using a different IP address structure to clean things up and was wondering what you guys used?

I’ll have 1 RouterBoard wired into 4 Sector Antennas, and then 50 Radios. I plan on using PPPOE on the routerboard and eliminating DHCP. Im looking for a better way to set my network up. Would enjoy seeing what you guys do.

Thanks

hmm… in my opinion PPPoE is good way to get rid of conflict IPs on the network, but non every OS (like win 98) have built in support for PPPoE

btw. In actual situation do you have static leases in dhcp server ?
