I am looking for recommendations for best outdoor Ethernet socket, so far I have tried two types and both have some shortcomings,
One has a flaw with RJ45 latching and if the RJ45 plug is unplugged a few times it will cause the metal strip holding in the RJ45 to buckle resulting in intermittent connections (See photo)
Second has a very short thread for the screw cap and a very small plastic lip at the top of this thread, unless liberal amounts of self-amalgamating tape are used water ingress will occur flowing down the inside of the thread and filling up to RJ45 plug, we considered removing the rubber grommet (red in picture) to allow this water ingress to flow down the cat5 cable but we though then cable movement could cause intermittent contact of the RJ45 plug.
Also if the RJ45 is pushed in too much the inner top section with copper pins will come off, had to melt sections the plastic between inner and outer parts to stop this happening.
