Recommended setup for VPN (hardware)

Hello,

I’d like to replace my home router with one that supports VPN and has stable Wifi.
PPTP is not safe enough and OpenVPN requires extra software which is why I’d like to use L2TP.

For this I’m thinking of the new RB951G-2HnD which seems to be exactly what I want. (Except for “ac” support) But as I read through this forum the Wifi seems to disconnect users. In fact none of Mikrotiks routers seem to have stable Wifi.

I have 2 questions:
Is it possible to disable Wifi in RB951G-2HnD and only use it as a router?
Would a RB951G-2HnD perform better than RB750GL on VPN connections (due to faster CPU and more RAM)?

Right now I’m thinking of one of these setups: (which one do you recommend?)

Option 1:
RB951G-2HnD (Use internal Wifi)

Option 2:
RB951G-2HnD + Airport Express (Disable Wifi in RB951G-2HnD and use an Airport Express for Wifi)

Option 3:
RB750GL + Airport Express (Will the RB951G-2HnD with Wifi disabled perform better than a RB750GL?)

Thank you!

I still use the RB751G-2HnD at home for wireless and VPN and have not discovered any problem with WiFi ever since. I usually run the latest firmware and use an additional Airport Express for 5 GHz / 802.11n.

Interestingly I find my Routerboard is more stable (never had issues with it) than my Airport Express, which needs to be restarted every other week or month.

P.S.:

I’m still using an elder version of the Airport Express. Probably / maybe the current model doesn’t have that issue anymore.
I may switch to using the current one, which handles 2.4 and 5 GHz simultaneaously and an Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite (just arrived today) or a Mikrotik RB2011UAS-IN (got two of them lying around).

Thanks!
I may try out an RB951 with Internal Wifi then.
