Red LED RB951

I have an RB951Ui-2HnD router.

Everything was fine before.
Now 5th port LED lights red as soon as power is supplied. At the same time everything is working.
Settings do not change anything. Even a full reset.

5th port activity is displayed in green. As a result, the color becomes orange (green+red). I do NOT use POE input on the 1st port and do NOT used POE output on 5th port (any POE on any port).

What a… ?

that’s because you forced POE on, on that port or you connected some device which require POE.
RB951Ui-2HnD is POE out capable on port 5

cheers

This is my settings for 5th port:

… nothing changes if i pull out ALL the wires from the router.

did you upgrade your router recently? - might be a bug
try amending the POE Port settings to auto.
please do a

/interface eth export

and if you have any output please paste here

Cheers

Auto on - the same red led.

Yes i was upgrade the firmware [6.15] AND the routerboard [3.16] recently.

I suggest you create a supout.rif and send it to mktk support. they’ll open a ticket for you.
Looks like a bug.

after that downgrade to 6.10 - that’s the most stable version I know!!

cheers

something else… have you played with the system leds settings?
I’ve just taken a brand new one and upgrade and it doesn’t happen the same to me.
Check your system leds settings do they look like below?

/system leds
set 0 disabled=no interface=wlan1 leds=wlan-led type=wireless-status
set 1 disabled=no interface=ether1 leds=led1 type=interface-activity
set 2 disabled=no interface=ether2 leds=led2 type=interface-activity
set 3 disabled=no interface=ether3 leds=led3 type=interface-activity
set 4 disabled=no interface=ether4 leds=led4 type=interface-activity
set 5 disabled=no interface=ether5 leds=led5 type=interface-activity

cheers

These settings do not help.
For example if i make settings like on screen
red led still ON.

On normal led settings green leds are ACT.

As far as I can see all your LED settings are disabled…
You’ve tried enabling them I assume. Also have you tried replacing the cable on port 5?

other than that… create a supout.rif and send it to MKTK support maybe they can tell you more… I’ve only seen that happening if the port has POE output but obviously from what you describe is not the case.

cheers

done
supout.rif.NOT.pdf (294 KB)

have you sent it to support@mikrotik.com?

right… something happened with your interfaces

They should be like this:
0 ->eth1
1 ->eth2

4 ->eth5
for some reason 0 is eth5 and 1 is eth 1!

also something I see in the routerboard section:

routerboard: yes
             model: 951Ui-2HnD

  current-firmware: 3.16
  upgrade-firmware: 3.16

BIOS
bad command name bios (line 3 column 18)

SETTINGS

        cpu-frequency: 600MHz
        boot-protocol: bootp
  force-backup-booter: no
          silent-boot: no

I’m not sure if “bad command bios” means anything bad.

before anything try setting your interface 5_IN to POE auto on and to advertise

auto-negotiation=yes advertise=10M-half,10M-full,100M-half,100M-full,1000M-half,1000M-full full-duplex=yes

If no change I suggest to netinstall the ROS again and begin re-configuring from scratch

cheers

hmm…
after all i was NOT change anything and somehow red led now is OFF.
hmm…

maybe you’ve changed something which required a reboot…

Red color LED just means “PoE-out” on port 5.

Once every three years!
