Hi people, I have a linux server working as squid. dhcp, firewall, ntop, squid analizer, etc, etc. my complete WISP solution is working on it, im starting to migrate all but squid to mikrotik, later i will redrect port 80 to my external squid server, but it is another history by now, my question is because RIGHT NOW i need to show a login page to all my users so i’m searching the way to redirect the incoming traffic (maybe only port 80) FROM my linux server to a mikrotik HOTSPOT server.. understand? it’s possible, thanks
Based on this from the other thread:
my clients ip is 10.19.91.1 - 10.19.91.200
10.19.91.254 linux
10.19.91.253 mk hotspottalk you in the another topic.. thanks
So the clients currently have a default gateway of 10.19.91.254? I don’t think you can’t block them with a login page like you want to (keeping their current gateway of the Linux box) because you can’t tell the Linux box from RouterOS that clients are logged in after they’ve submitted the login page. I don’t see how it would make sense to show them a login page that effectively cannot authorize them to do anything.
I believe your best option is to just re-configure your DHCP server to hand out .253 as the default gateway and to configure your Hotspot on RouterOS, and then to add other functionality later.
yes, i beleive you’re right, i was thinking in just to REDIRECT the traffic port 80 to the hotspot machine, but sounds like impossible, i know that it’s possible to redirect from mikrotik to external PROXY but i dont knoe if this other scenarios it’s possible too, now you or somebody knows or have any idea of how i can give or show some information page for my clients like a hotspot? i dont want the autorizing or blocking capibilities for the hotspot, just show a info page. anyway so much thanks…
