redundant wireless ship-to-shore

We want to control some equipment placed on an island from a laptop on board an anchored ship. Live testing shows that our 900MHz link is fairly reliable but we want to add a 5GHz MIMO link in parallel for redundancy. Could a pair of dual-WAN routers (one on the island and one on board the vessel) manage the parallel radio links? The data rate is fairly low, under 10mbps, and 99% of that is in the direction from the island to the ship.

We’re RF guys, not network engineers so if this is a dumb question you can forgive me. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi

Sure, two routers with both communication channels connected to them (900MHz & 5GHz) and redundant route entries would do the trick.
