refman2.9.pdf: HOTSPOT documentation problems

Trying to set up a hotspot, I stumbled across the following problems reagrding the documentation:

  • It looks like, that both on page 521 and 528, bottom, examples are missing from the text. Note, that the page numbers 521 and 528 are from the printing of refman2.9.pdf, NOT using page numbering of acrobat-reader. So simply search both for 521 and 528
  • Trying to set up a private log-in page, in original /hotspot/login.html a value “link-login-only” is used, for which any explanation in the docs is missing. May be, it is the same as “link-login-plain” ?
-idle-timeout: When testing my hotspot-setup, I accessed the hotspot both with a browser and the winbox.exe simultaneously from my notebook using wireless connection. After closing the browser, in winbox I still did not see any increase in “idle-timeout”. So I assume, “idle-timeout” is based on active/busy MAC-address, because winbox was still active ?
If so, the docs is a bit misleading, or, even better, to change this behaviour in the way, that HTTP-traffic only is taken into consideration.
  1. don’t use the PDF, instead use the online version
  2. use v3 documentation if possible
  3. also use the Wiki

Sorry, the first two issues are solved in the Online-manual for v3. However,
the third item of my list still persists.
Ist it a bug or a feature ?
In case of feature, some clarification is necessary. The term “client” then in the docs is misleading; clients-MAC-adrs should be better to avoid confusion.
My impression was, client does NOT include winbox, or any other FTP-apps only communicating with RouterOS.
